Dr. Joe Sanfelippo recently retired after spending the last 26 years in the building and the final 12 as the Superintendent of the Fall Creek School District in Fall Creek, WI. The Fall Creek School District was named an Innovative District by the International Center for Leadership in Education twice during that time. Joe holds a BA in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, an MS in Educational Psychology, an MS in Educational Leadership, and a Ph.D. in Leadership, Learning, and Service. He was selected as 1 of 117 Future Ready Superintendents and 1 of 50 Superintendents as a Personalized Learning Leader by the
US Department of Education. Education Dive named Joe their National Superintendent of the Year in 2019.

Steve Baker worked in the Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District for 40 years. He held the position of a high school math teacher for 11 years, middle school assistant principal for 3 years and as the high school principal for 26 years. Bluffton High School has earned an “A” grade or its equivalent from the Indiana Department of Education on a consistent basis. Bluffton High School has also received the 4-star award five times since 2010. Additionally, he has been a member of the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) for 30 years and served on the executive board of directors as the IASP liaison to the Indiana Department of Education. In this role, Steve worked with elected officials and IDOE members on a regular basis to encourage them to support policies that benefit principals, educators, schools, and students. In November 2012, Steve was presented with the Indiana High School Principal of the Year award. Steve has served on the Educator Evaluation Committee, the A-F Accountability Committee, the Indiana ISTEP replacement panel, The GPS panel, and the Programs of Study for CTE concentrators. Throughout the year, Steve makes numerous presentations at conferences around the state on topics such as leadership, advocacy, school culture, accountability, and the new high school diplomas.

Nationally recognized character-development specialist Jim Kestner began his career as a high school English teacher and track and cross country coach. He conducts research and works with teachers, parents, and students across the country to develop character in youth.
Jim has developed national programs on drugs and sport and high school sportsmanship and has taught at Northwestern University, Eastern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois campuses in Champaign-Urbana and Chicago. He is a published author, nationally recognized speaker, and has appeared on television and radio programs.
Jim lives in central Illinois and has been married for 31 years. He and his wife Tami have three children and four grandchildren.
For over 30 years Jim has conducted research and worked with administrators, faculty, parents, and students to empower individuals to realize their career and life potential. In 1999 and 2000 he developed the Dynamics of Leadership curriculum for Oprah Winfrey when she taught at Northwestern University. Kestner’s other clients and business associates have included Warren Buffet, Coretta Scott King, Henry Kissinger, the National Education Association, Horace Mann Insurance Companies, the Abraham Lincoln Institute for Literacy in America, NASA, and several Olympic National Governing Bodies.

Dr. Megan Kirk is a licensed school psychologist who specializes in developing strategic frameworks that enhance mental health support for youth and families. With expertise in cross-system collaboration, she works with schools, juvenile justice, and community agencies to create sustainable, evidence-based solutions that foster resilience and well-being.
Currently, Dr. Kirk serves as Program Manager at Family Links, where she develops and oversees the implementation of evidence-based mental health initiatives in partnership with schools and community organizations across Indiana. Alongside her team, she provides training and consultation on trauma-informed practices, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, social-emotional learning, and comprehensive school mental health systems. Dr. Kirk holds a PhD in School Psychology with a specialization in Public Policy and Advocacy and has published research on school mental health screening. Her background includes serving as a school psychologist and District Behavioral Health and Wellness Coordinator. She previously served as engagement liaison with the Indiana Youth Institute and currently serves as adjunct faculty at Indiana State University, teaching in the School Psychology program. She was recognized as the 2023 D. Susan Wisely Youth Worker of the Year by the Indiana Youth

Aimee Lunsford serves as the Chief Academic Officer for Warsaw Community Schools. After serving 14 years in the classroom and 12 years as an elementary administrator, she now leads curriculum and instruction for elementary schools in Warsaw. While instruction is a professional passion, her real heart is in empowering and growing new leaders. Aimee and her husband Justin have two children. Jackson is 23 and a graduate of Manchester University. He now works in leadership and management using his Industrial Organizational Psychology degree. Their daughter Sophie is 19 and a sophomore at Indiana University majoring in English and Political Science. Aimee loves spending time with her family, especially outdoors. She is an avid reader, antique lover and a lifelong learner about to complete her doctorate in educational leadership.

Randy Maurer is an elementary principal, educator, speaker, and occasional stand-up comedian from Greentown, Indiana. With more than 30 years in education, he brings practical leadership experience, instructional insight, and a dose of humor to every stage he steps on. As principal of Eastern Elementary and an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University Kokomo, Randy focuses on building strong school cultures, developing confident teachers, and reminding educators that being human is not a weakness — it’s a leadership strength. He and his wife, Tami, a kindergarten teacher, have two grown children and reside in Greentown.

Mike Pinto is the principal of James Cole Elementary School in the Tippecanoe School Corporation. He serves as a mentor and on the Leadership Team of the Indiana Principal Leadership Institute. Mike’s family includes wife, Kimberley - also an educator, and stepsons, Brent and Alex. Mike enjoys unsweetened iced tea, writing, hugs, pie, baseball, and a good book. Mike’s educational approach can be summarized in the following statement: “Do the best you can where you are with what you have for others while pausing to offer gratitude, making the world better, and acknowledging awe”.

Professional Journey
Early Career:
He began his career in 1987 as a Government and Economics teacher and coach at Cascade High School after graduating from Ball State University.
Administrative Growth:
He later took on leadership roles at Cascade, serving as Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, and Principal. In 2002, he moved to Speedway High School.
Speedway Leadership:
At Speedway, he served as Assistant Principal for five years before becoming Principal in 2007.
Association Leadership:
He became actively involved with the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP), serving as President from 2013–2014. In 2015, he became the Associate Executive Director.
Key Contributions & Advocacy
At IASP, he served as the chief legislative liaison during sessions of the Indiana General Assembly.
He also led the Indiana New Administrators Leadership Institute (INALI), supporting more than 700 new administrators across ten cohorts.
Education and Current Role
He holds a Master’s degree in Administration from Indiana University and an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree from Indiana State University.
He currently serves as the Executive Director of the West Central Indiana Education Service Center.

Dr. Jamey Peavler completed her Doctorate and Master’s in the Graduate Reading Science Program at Mount St. Joseph University. She is an Assistant Professor, Graduate Reading Science Program Co-Director. Before joining The Mount, Jamey served as the Director of Training for the M.A. Rooney Foundation, providing Orton-Gillingham training for teachers across Indiana. She was an Instructional Coach and classroom teacher for Indianapolis Public Schools for 20 years. Jamey reviews higher-education textbooks and teacher licensure exams for the National Council for Teacher Quality. She is a Certified Fellow-in-Training with the Orton-Gillingham Academy and an International Dyslexia Association Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist. She has over 18 combined years of service on the board of the Reading League’s Indiana and IDA Indiana Chapters. Jamey serves on the Editorial Board for the International Dyslexia Association’s Perspectives in Language and Literacy journal.

2 Day Advanced OG, Phonics and Morphology

This two-day course covers structural analysis (syllable types and syllable division) and
morphology.
Participants learn to plan and implement instruction to support advanced decoding and encoding.

Dr. Jamey Peavler completed her Doctorate and Master’s in the Graduate Reading Science Program at Mount St. Joseph University. She is an Assistant Professor, Graduate Reading Science Program Co-Director. Before joining The Mount, Jamey served as the Director of Training for the M.A. Rooney Foundation, providing Orton-Gillingham training for teachers across Indiana. She was an Instructional Coach and classroom teacher for Indianapolis Public Schools for 20 years. Jamey reviews higher-education textbooks and teacher licensure exams for the National Council for Teacher Quality. She is a Certified Fellow-in-Training with the Orton-Gillingham Academy and an International Dyslexia Association Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist. She has over 18 combined years of service on the board of the Reading League’s Indiana and IDA Indiana Chapters. Jamey serves on the Editorial Board for the International Dyslexia Association’s Perspectives in Language and Literacy journal.

Steve worked in the Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District for 40 years. He held
the position of a high school math teacher for 11 years, middle school assistant principal
for 3 years and as the high school principal for 26 years.
Bluffton High School has earned an “A” grade or its equivalent from the Indiana
Department of Education on a consistent basis. Bluffton High School has also received
the 4-star award five times since 2010. Additionally, he has been a member of the
Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) for 30 years and served on the executive
board of directors as the IASP liaison to the Indiana Department of Education. In this
role, Steve worked with elected officials and IDOE members on a regular basis to
encourage them to support policies that benefit principals, educators, schools, and
students. In November 2012, Steve was presented with the Indiana High School
Principal of the Year award. Steve has served on the Educator Evaluation Committee,
the A-F Accountability Committee, the Indiana ISTEP replacement panel, The GPS panel,
and the Programs of Study for CTE concentrators. Throughout the year, Steve makes
numerous presentations at conferences around the state on topics such as leadership,
advocacy, school culture, accountability, and the new high school diplomas.
